Scaling Cloud Gaming Across MENA Through Direct Carrier Billing

Launching a digital subscription service across multiple telecom markets requires more than a strong product. Local payment infrastructure, operator relationships and customer acquisition all play a critical role in turning a service into a scalable commercial proposition.

For Blacknut, Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) became an important part of its strategy to expand cloud gaming across the MENA region.

Through its partnership with Mobile Arts and its MobiBox monetization platform, Blacknut can leverage established telecom billing connections to make cloud gaming easier to subscribe to — while accelerating access to new operator markets.

Removing the Payment Barrier

Through MobiBox, Mobile Arts provides Blacknut with access to established Direct Carrier Billing connections.

This allows customers to subscribe to Blacknut directly through their telecom account, without needing a credit card or separate payment service.

For the consumer, the journey is simple:

Choose Blacknut → confirm the subscription → pay through the operator.

For Blacknut and its telecom partners, this removes an important barrier to converting customers into paying subscribers.

Mobile Arts also supports the partnership through local payment options, targeted digital marketing and data-driven customer engagement, helping Blacknut reach and acquire users in individual markets.

From One Partnership to Regional Expansion

The partnership between Blacknut and Mobile Arts was established specifically to help expand cloud gaming through the telecom channel.

Mobile Arts' pre-existing DCB connections allow Blacknut to access operator ecosystems without having to establish an entirely new payment relationship for every market.

This model has supported Blacknut's growing presence across MENA, with integrations involving operators including:

  • Etisalat / e&
  • du
  • STC KSA
  • Asiacell
  • Ooredoo Qatar
  • Ooredoo Oman
  • Ooredoo Kuwait
  • Orange Jordan
  • Zain Kuwait
  • STC Kuwait
  • Ooredoo Algeria

By November 2025, Blacknut had established partnerships with telecom operators across the Gulf, Levant and wider MENA region, giving the platform access to millions of potential players.

A Local Payment Experience for a Global Service

One of the challenges of international digital distribution is that consumers do not necessarily pay for services in the same way from one market to another.

DCB provides a familiar payment experience by allowing subscriptions to be charged through an existing mobile account.

The model is particularly relevant for cloud gaming because the service itself requires no dedicated gaming hardware, downloads or high-end PC.

In Algeria, for example, Mobile Arts' MobiBox platform will allow Ooredoo customers to activate Blacknut with just a few taps, while Blacknut can be accessed through a web browser or dedicated application across smartphones, PCs, Macs, tablets and Smart TVs.

Building on the Ooredoo Partnership

The partnership with Ooredoo demonstrates how this model can be deployed across multiple markets.

In 2025, Ooredoo Group partnered with MobiBox to introduce Blacknut through its Go Play Market entertainment platform in Qatar, Kuwait and Oman.

Customers could subscribe without a credit card or bank account, with the service integrated into Ooredoo's existing digital entertainment marketplace alongside other services such as live TV, video-on-demand, music and audiobooks.

The approach creates a natural environment for cloud gaming: rather than being marketed as an isolated product, Blacknut becomes part of the operator's wider digital entertainment offering.

Connecting Distribution and Monetization

The value of the Mobile Arts partnership extends beyond payment processing, bringing together the capabilities needed to expand, monetize, and grow cloud gaming services across MENA.

Blacknut

Cloud gaming technology, a premium game catalog, and global distribution expertise.

Mobile Arts / MobiBox

Regional monetization infrastructure, established telecom operator relationships, Direct Carrier Billing (DCB), local payment solutions, and targeted user acquisition capabilities to drive customer reach, subscriber growth, and market expansion.

Telecom Operators

Established customer bases, network connectivity, billing infrastructure, and local distribution channels.

By combining these complementary capabilities, the partnership enables Blacknut to access new markets, reach relevant audiences, simplify subscription payments, and drive customer acquisition and monetization. It also provides telecom operators with an opportunity to enrich their digital entertainment portfolios with premium cloud gaming.

This integrated model creates a scalable foundation for expanding Blacknut's presence across MENA, while leveraging Mobile Arts' regional expertise and monetization capabilities to support sustainable commercial growth.

Scaling Across the Region

The UAE provides another example of the model in action.

Through Mobile Arts and MobiBox, Blacknut partnered with Etisalat to make cloud gaming available to millions of subscribers, combining Blacknut's gaming platform with Etisalat's telecom network and Mobile Arts' payment and user-acquisition capabilities.

The same approach continues to support Blacknut's wider MENA expansion.

The result is a scalable distribution model in which one monetization partnership can support multiple operator relationships and markets.

For telecom operators, this means a faster route to launching a premium gaming proposition.

For Blacknut, it means greater reach across one of the world's most digitally dynamic regions.

A Repeatable Model for Telecom-Led Cloud Gaming

The Mobile Arts partnership demonstrates how the right commercial infrastructure can accelerate cloud gaming adoption.

By combining Blacknut's content and technology with established DCB connections, local payment methods and operator relationships, Blacknut can reduce the friction associated with launching and monetizing a new digital entertainment service.

The result is a model designed to scale:

Global cloud gaming platform + Local monetization infrastructure + Telecom distribution = Faster market expansion.
