Bringing Cloud Gaming Closer to Players with a Dedicated POP

How Blacknut partnered with Totalplay to launch its first telecom operator deployment in Mexico, combining a dedicated cloud gaming Point of Presence with Totalplay’s high-performance network to deliver over 1,000 premium games and expand access to cloud gaming across Latin America.

Bringing Cloud Gaming Closer to Players with a Dedicated POP
  •

For telecom operators, launching cloud gaming at scale requires more than access to a premium game catalog.

A high-quality cloud gaming experience depends on low latency, reliable performance and infrastructure positioned close to the players it serves.

When Totalplay wanted to bring premium cloud gaming to its millions of households across Mexico, Blacknut developed a dedicated infrastructure approach designed specifically around the operator's network.

A New Cloud Gaming Deployment for Mexico

In August 2026, Totalplay and Blacknut launched premium cloud gaming across Mexico, marking Blacknut's first telecom operator deployment in the country.

Through the partnership, Totalplay customers gained access to Blacknut's catalog of more than 1,000 premium games, playable across a wide range of connected devices without the need for downloads or dedicated gaming hardware.

But the deployment goes beyond content and distribution.

To support the service, Blacknut's cloud gaming platform is deployed through a dedicated on-premise cloud infrastructure environment by Blacknut ready for for Totalplay.

A PoP Designed Around the Operator

Cloud gaming is particularly sensitive to network performance.

Unlike traditional streaming video, gaming requires a constant two-way interaction between the player and the cloud. Every movement, command and action needs to travel between the user's device and the game server with as little delay as possible.

The Totalplay deployment therefore uses infrastructure positioned within the operator environment to optimize the gaming experience.

This architecture is designed to provide:

  • Low latency for responsive gameplay.
  • Optimized performance within Totalplay's network.
  • A seamless experience for subscribers.
  • Infrastructure tailored to the operator's requirements.
  • Scalability as cloud gaming adoption grows.

By bringing the gaming infrastructure closer to the customer, Blacknut and Totalplay can optimize the experience for the specific characteristics of the Mexican network.

From Global Platform to Local Infrastructure

Blacknut operates a global cloud gaming platform, available in more than 65 countries.

But a global platform does not mean every deployment needs to rely on exactly the same infrastructure model.

The Totalplay project demonstrates how Blacknut can combine its global technology and content ecosystem with infrastructure adapted to an individual operator and market.

This provides the best of both worlds:

Global scale

Access to Blacknut's established cloud gaming platform, publisher relationships and 1,000+ game catalog.

Local optimization

Infrastructure designed around the operator's network and customer base.

For telecom operators, this creates a more flexible way to approach cloud gaming — without having to choose between a fully centralized global service and building an entire gaming infrastructure independently.

Making Premium Gaming More Accessible

The infrastructure is ultimately designed to support a simple consumer proposition.

Totalplay subscribers can access premium games directly through the cloud, without needing:

  • A gaming console.
  • A high-end gaming PC.
  • Game downloads.
  • Large local storage.
  • Game installations or updates.

Instead, the processing happens in the cloud and the game is streamed directly to a compatible device.

This makes gaming another digital entertainment service that can be delivered through the operator's existing connectivity.

Turning Connectivity into a Gaming Platform

For Totalplay, the partnership represents an opportunity to extend its existing entertainment ecosystem.

Totalplay operates its own optical fiber network and already provides customers with broadband, pay TV, fixed telephony and an integrated TV interface that brings multiple entertainment services together.

Cloud gaming adds another interactive layer to that proposition.

The operator's network becomes more than a way to access content: it becomes part of the infrastructure that makes the gaming experience possible.

This creates a new opportunity for telecom operators to turn connectivity into entertainment, while creating additional engagement and value for existing subscribers.

A Repeatable Infrastructure Model

The Totalplay deployment also demonstrates the flexibility of Blacknut's infrastructure approach.

Different operators have different network architectures, customer bases and performance requirements.

Blacknut can therefore combine:

Cloud Gaming Platform

The technology required to operate and deliver the gaming service.

Premium Game Catalog

More than 1,000 games through 150+ licensing partnerships.

Local Infrastructure

Dedicated cloud environments and Points of Presence designed around specific markets and networks.

Operator Integration

The ability to connect the service with an existing telecom and entertainment ecosystem.

This creates a model that can be adapted to different operator requirements while maintaining the same core Blacknut gaming experience.

A First Step for Cloud Gaming in Mexico

The Totalplay partnership represents Blacknut's first telecom operator deployment in Mexico, extending the company's presence further across Latin America.

For Totalplay, it introduces premium cloud gaming to millions of households.

For Blacknut, it demonstrates how infrastructure innovation can support the next phase of telecom-led cloud gaming — combining a global content platform with local, operator-specific deployment.

The result is a cloud gaming experience built not only for the player, but around the network delivering it.

Totalplay

Totalplay is a Mexican telecommunications and entertainment provider offering fixed broadband internet, pay TV and fixed telephone services through its own optical fiber network. The company also operates an integrated TV interface that brings multiple entertainment and streaming services together in a single experience.
